More Than Good Intentions: The elevatHER Project for Gender Equality

Projects

The free learning modules and the elevatHER app help women build skills, find their voices, and explore their own ideas about leadership.

How can you speak up in a meeting and make your point heard? How do you build professional networks that offer real support? And how can you take on responsibility without losing sight of your own limits?

The European project ElevatHER: Overcoming the Gender Power Gap has developed practical learning resources to help answer these questions. Together with partner organizations in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, and Poland, Smart has created learning modules, hands-on exercises, and a free app. These resources help women expand their options, build confidence, and develop their own ideas about what good leadership looks like.

The project is now coming to an end, but its results will remain available. The resources can be used independently, at your own pace, and free of charge.

Learning About Leadership, Exploring New Possibilities

How can women speak up in public, build professional networks that work for them, and navigate challenging situations? The learning modules explore these and other questions around leadership and self-determination.

Topics include communication, building trust, empathy, conflict resolution, and ethical leadership. Resilience and self-care are part of the picture, too. Taking responsibility doesn’t mean having to do everything, all the time. It also means recognizing your own limits and finding ways to stay effective over the long term.

The modules combine information with interactive exercises that help learners apply what they’ve learned to real-world situations.

A 30-Day Learning Journey

While the learning modules explore individual topics in greater depth, the app offers 30 short lessons covering different aspects of personal and professional development. Daily prompts help users recognize their strengths, try out new skills, and gradually gain confidence in their own decisions and actions.

A brief daily check-in helps users reflect on their mood and energy levels and choose a next step that feels right for them. Across six topic areas, the app explores self-discovery and inner strength, self-care, resilience, and self-confidence. Activities range from breathing techniques and reflection exercises to public speaking, networking, and working with artificial intelligence.

How do you approach someone at a networking event? How might you handle a difficult conversation at work? An interactive practice area lets users work through situations like these ahead of time. They make decisions and receive feedback on their strengths, potential risks, and possible next steps. It’s a safe space to try different approaches and learn from the experience.

Personal experiences have a place, too. In a dedicated section, women can share stories anonymously, encourage others, and support one another. Rather than likes or leaderboards, the focus is on sharing experiences and building solidarity.

The app is free, ad-free, and available in six languages. The lessons are short, and users can work through them at their own pace.

The Project Ends. The Possibilities Remain.

The learning modules and the app will remain available free of charge. That means elevatHER’s results can continue to be used, shared, and incorporated into educational programs.

We hope these resources reach and inspire many people. Try it out & pass it on!
